Section 1 - Program Positioning
This 10-hour training is designed as continuing education aligned with the International Coaching Federation Mentor Coaching Competencies, and the evolving expectations for Mentor Coach Qualification (MCQ) renewal.
The program strengthens the mentor coach’s ability to work with increasing precision, consistency, and discernment, supporting the development of coaching capability across all credentialing levels
It explicitly integrates the latest ICF emphasis on developmental partnership, reflective practice, and competency integration over time — not only performance evaluation.
Section 2 - Program Description
Mentor coaching is a structured, developmental process focused on how coaching competencies are demonstrated in practice.
This program trains participants in what a mentor coach must actually do:
observe coaching sessions (live or recorded) using competency-based listening
identify competencies in action and evaluate alignment with ACC, PCC, and MCC levels
provide clear, evidence-based, non-judgmental feedback
identify strengths, development areas, and patterns across sessions
support the integration of learning over time
manage mentor coaching agreements and developmental processes
facilitate both individual and group mentor coaching
In addition, the program develops the mentor coach’s ability to:
differentiate between observation, evaluation, and developmental dialogue
support reflective learning rather than corrective feedback only
recognise systemic patterns in the coach’s presence, choices, and impact
partner with the coach in a co-created developmental process aligned with ICF standards
The training emphasizes that mentor coaching focuses on the coach’s demonstration of competencies within the coaching process, as they work with the client’s topic.
Section 3 - Learning Approach
The program is delivered in a live, synchronous small-group format and is grounded in an experiential methodology.
Participants work with:
real coaching recordings
competency-based observation
structured feedback practice
guided reflection
Learning follows a continuous cycle:
Observation → Evidence → Appraisal → Development → Integration
Particular emphasis is placed on reflective pauses, meta-observation, and the mentor coach’s presence as a developmental instrument.
Section 4 - What You Will Develop
Ability to identify coaching competencies in real sessions
Precision in distinguishing ACC, PCC, and MCC levels
Skill in delivering structured, non-judgmental feedback
Capacity to support coaching skill integration over time
Confidence in managing both individual and group mentor coaching processes
In addition, you will also develop-
ability to engage in developmental dialogue (not only feedback delivery)
increased discernment in recognising subtle MCC-level markers
capacity to support transformation in the coach, not only performance improvement
alignment with current and emerging ICF expectations for mentor coaches
Section 5 - Program Structure
Session 1 – Role, ethics, and foundations of mentor coaching
Session 2 – Agreements, process, and credential-level orientation (ACC–PCC–MCC)
Session 3 – Formative appraisal (competency-based evaluation)
Session 4 – Feedback and skill development
Session 5 – Group mentor coaching and learning dynamics
Across all sessions:
integration of reflective practice
development of mentor coach presence
application of real-case analysis with increasing complexity
Section 6 - MCQ Renewal Alignment
This training fulfils the 10-hour continuing education requirement aligned with the ICF Mentor Coaching Competencies for renewal of the Mentor Coach Qualification (MCQ).
It supports:
ongoing alignment with mentor coaching standards
development of consistent, competency-based practice
renewal across ACC, PCC, and MCC levels
It also responds to the increasing ICF expectation that mentor coaches demonstrate:
consistency of practice
depth of developmental partnership
ability to support long-term competency integration
Completion contributes to maintaining active status within the ICF Mentor Coach Registry and recognition through the ICF digital credential.
Section 7 - Assessment Approach
Assessment is formative and practice-based, aligned with ICF standards.
Participants are evaluated through their ability to:
observe coaching sessions using evidence (timestamps, client language, behavior)
identify competencies accurately
provide structured, competency-based feedback
reflect on and track their own development over time
Your assessment will also include:
quality of developmental dialogue
ability to balance challenge and support
depth of reflective capacity as a mentor coach
Section 8 - Learning Outcomes
By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
apply the ICF Mentor Coaching Competencies in practice
differentiate mentor coaching from coaching, supervision, and evaluation
establish clear agreements and manage a developmental process
assess coaching sessions using observable evidence
provide feedback that supports real skill development
identify patterns and support long-term integration
facilitate group mentor coaching effectively
In addition, participants will possess the skills to:
demonstrate a developmental partnership approach aligned with current ICF expectations
use reflective practice as a core mentoring tool
support coaches in moving toward mastery (not only credential readiness)
